What is an animal refuse workstation (cage dump station)?
A cage dump station is a Class I personnel-protection enclosure designed for disposing of animal bedding and cage waste while reducing exposure to airborne particulates using an inflow air barrier and HEPA-filtered exhaust.
Does a Class I refuse workstation provide product protection (sterile work area)?
No. A Class I cabinet draws room air over the work surface and is intended for personnel protection, not maintaining sterility for cage cleaning.
What inflow velocity does the NU-608 use?
The NU-608 is designed around an active inflow air barrier of about 105 fpm (0.53 m/s) at the access opening.
What filtration is used for allergens and odor?
Exhaust air is filtered through HEPA (99.99% @ 0.3 µm) and a charcoal exhaust module for odor control.
Will it fit rat cages?
Yes. It includes an extra-large 14-inch (356 mm) access opening designed to comfortably fit rat cages.
How often should the unit be recertified?
NuAire recommends certification/commissioning after installation and recertification at least annually, and after filter changes or maintenance.
