In-VitroCell CO2 Incubator Installation Guide

How to Install a NuAire In-VitroCell CO₂ Incubator: A Step-by-Step Guide

Installing your NuAire In-VitroCell CO₂ incubator correctly is the first step to ensuring a stable, contamination-free environment for cell culture. Whether you're working with tissue engineering, IVF, or pharmaceutical research, proper installation sets the foundation for scientific success. This infographic-based guide simplifies the process, taking you from unboxing to powering up your incubator with confidence and precision.

Key Installation Steps for Your CO₂ Incubator

1. Unpacking and Initial Inspection

Upon delivery, inspect both the packaging and the incubator for visible damage. Unbox the unit carefully and leave it secured to the shipping skid until it's in the final lab location. For assistance, see the unpacking video.

2. Placement and Leveling

  • Allow 2 inches (51 mm) of clearance on the sides and back.
  • Leave 10 inches (254 mm) between units and 3 feet (914 mm) in front for access.
  • Use a bubble level to ensure all four feet are stable on the surface.

3. Internal Cleaning

Before operation, remove all shelves and clean the chamber with 70% isopropyl alcohol. Avoid halogenated or chlorinated agents. View proper surface cleaning techniques.

4. Humidification Setup

  • For models like NU-5700 or NU-5810: Fill the bottom pan with distilled water (not purer than 1 MΩ).
  • For RH control models like NU-5741: Fill the internal reservoir via the red screw cap. Instructions vary—see water reservoir fill guide.

5. Gas and Power Connections

Connect CO₂ (and N₂ if applicable) with a two-stage regulator only, maintaining 20 PSIG (1.4 BAR). For help, watch the CO₂ connection video.

6. System Startup and Calibration

Power on the incubator and allow 8–12 hours for temperature stabilization. Date and time can be set via the intuitive NuTouch control system.

Why Proper Setup Matters

Improper setup can compromise cell viability and increase contamination risk. NuAire’s multi-layered defense—like closed-loop HEPA filtration, high heat decontamination, and NuTouch ECS—is only effective when the unit is installed correctly.
